Restructuring at work

January 7th, 2009 at 08:20 PM by female

My company is combining our Canadian operation with the U.S starting this year. There are going to be a lot of job cuts in Canada.
I have started job hunting. I am most worried that if I don't find something else and I get laid off, this will cause me to dip into my savings and get further away from my goal.

Back to work, dreaming of houses

January 7th, 2009 at 08:04 PM by Laura

I pulled into my parking space around 7 p.m. last night. It was so good to be home. I had a really good trip, and was really really spoiled . . but it was so good to be home.

I didn't sleep very well at all last night, even though I was really tired. Even so, I managed to make it to work this morning on time.

Most people seemed happy to see me back, and I was happy to see most of them.

There was a good stack of work waiting for me on my desk, and more was added to...

Days are flying by

January 7th, 2009 at 07:38 PM by Lizajane

I can't believe it's been 3 days since I had something to report. I've been busy, I guess. I'm still trying to find a block of time to finish and close out "the books" for 2008, run some reports, analyze the numbers, and figure out goals for 2009.

On the job front, I'm just waiting for the company I interviewed with last week to call to schedule another interview. This is a little more than wishful thinking, since they emailed to say they'd be calling to set something up.

If...

Ordered seeds today . EEEEE!

January 7th, 2009 at 06:38 PM by Denise

I get really excited when the seed catalogs come in the mail. I sent in a rather ambitious order today. I am really planning to garden it up and try to preserve food this year. I just read "Animal Vegetable Miracle" by Barbra Kingsolver for the third time, and that is probably dangerous when planning a garden.

I even made some unconventional choices. I have to garden in the front yard because my backyard is all shade, so I try not to raise the ire of the neighbors by blatantly...

Nothing to report

January 7th, 2009 at 06:37 PM by Amber

Other than paying off CC I had a no spend today. I also have had lunch and breakfast at home no dining out for me until I get this cc debt down.
On a different note it was raining today so I didn't feel like going to the gym but will go tomorrow right after work, I also read chapter 1 for my online class trying to stay ahead of the game

Tempted to Buy

January 7th, 2009 at 06:29 PM by Creditcardfree

I've been trying not to spend this week on extras. So far so good. Until, I get the mail and find a catalog for Smith Noble, a blind and window treatment company.

I really need...maybe want a new blind for our front window in our living room. I browse the catalog. I start searching online for better deals. I even measure my window. I can justify it as a need, because when we go to sell this house it will look sooo much better than the crazy three uneven shades that came with...

Daily Update

January 7th, 2009 at 05:27 PM by Shiela

Since before christmas DH has been doing research on our home and content insurance. He finally decided on one and we got the papers for it yesterday. He decided to go with the same company as our car insurance. They give us a 10% discount and some further discount because we decided to pay it yearly instead of monthly. Another reason for the saving is we got rid of a pesonal item, now that we have reasonable savings we can cover it. That personal item was costing a lot to insure,...

Mystery Shop $

January 7th, 2009 at 05:06 PM by Blue Eyes

I did a mystery shop a little over a week ago for an oil change at a car dealership. Today I noticed that the reimbursement of $38.64 was deposited into my account. I still am waiting on the shopper's fee. This mystery shopping company pays them separately for whatever reason.

I think this is the quickest I have gotten reimbursed from this company, so it was a nice surprise.

I will add this amount to my weekly deposit for extra income savings account. I need to make a...

I Love Workplace Drama!

January 7th, 2009 at 05:02 PM by Front Porch Mom

Work has been so fun! I mean really really fun! Tons of gossip and rumors floating all over the place. It is amazing. Just announce job cuts and boy do folks get off their rears and get to work! AMAZING! One worker who does the same job I do on Saturdays but she does it on Sundays was questioned. I mean I am done in 6 hours....yet somehow she needs 8 plus overtime??? When asked I was the role model she was compared to....gee did I feel good. They asked for her notes on what she...

Bunco tonight

January 7th, 2009 at 04:18 PM by Maismom

I joined the gym on Sunday, and have been working out three days in a row. That's pretty good for me!

I just want to make sure I recover the cost of membership. Well, just kidding.... a little.

My friend called me and asked me to play bunco tonight with them. I said "SURE!" I normally have to say no because I have school, but not today. It is so nice that I have some break from school and be able to do something different.

So, no gym tonight, but will be playing...

Sick again - But at least the camera came

January 7th, 2009 at 04:13 PM by HouseHopeful

I've been sick again. Making it into work, but am sleeping pretty much non stop. And if I'm awake, I have NO energy. Which means I've been buying food instead of preparing it. I'm hoping to feel better by tomorrow or Friday. Once I get back into the swing of things, I'll get on with my packing all food challange.

On the bright side, my new camera came in today. I'm waiting for it to charge & then I'll be taking some pictures. Since its dark out, I'm probably going to be taking...

Frustrated

January 7th, 2009 at 04:02 PM by rduell

DH and I are going through FPU and we had decided that we are finally ready to take the step of stopping our retirement contributions temporarily so we can apply that money to the debt snowball. I had no problem stopping mine at work since I'm the one that does the payroll. DH went into his payroll department and was told that he can't stop his contributions until the beginning of the next quarter.

It's just very frustrating to finally have him on board and now we can't...

The anticipation is killing me

January 7th, 2009 at 03:58 PM by Missy

Okay, my school decided to torture me today. They send me a happy little e-mail and in happy little font they write 'your refund has been processed. It should be deposited into your account within five buisness days.' or something to that effect. Anywho, what it meant was that it could take up to five buisnessness days..that's what it said!! Okay, ya'll got that? Its just killing me. Darn you higher education!!!

Yep, got debt to pay off...

2,294.64$ any day now.....

Almost spent money but decided against it.

January 7th, 2009 at 03:48 PM by Crystal

This is why I try to remember to always take my time before spending money. I want an elliptical and a treadmill.

Up until househunting (November), I regularly went to a gym 3 times per week. In the winter, the main draw was the elliptical since I have weights at home. Found both on sale today. Wanted to get them. I could even have done them with no cost financing BUT I would be spending $3500. Talked to DH, we decided we were going to do it tonight and then I started making...

Pretty Expensive Day

January 7th, 2009 at 03:05 PM by Amy

Today has not been a good day, spending or otherwise. I had a doctors appointment today. Been having this phantom pain in my stomach on and off for a year or so, but that has been constant for the last two weeks. Turns out I have a hernia. I have to see a surgeon next week, who may or may not suggest surgery. However it isn't that simple. The hospital in this area almost killed me about 8 years ago, different surgeon, same hospital. So instead of going to the doctor I was...

NSD - Monday & Tuesday

January 7th, 2009 at 02:18 PM by CouponAddict

Well Monday was a no spend day! I meant to go out and buy some more sunday papers and hit CVS but did not.

Tuesday was sort of a no spend day. DH had to write a check to Child Services for the child support mess up; but when I got home that night the check they sent us was in the mail box (they sent us a refund on accident instead of paying the mother). I was going to go to CVS but with the car hood bender I had I was driving DHs car and just did not want to do anything but...
